Obverse description The national coat of arms of Rwanda occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a sun, sorghum plant, traditional hut, and interlaced rope knot, flanked by two crossed torches and encircled by a laurel wreath. The legend BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arcs along the upper periphery, while AMAFARANGA 500 MAGANA ATANU runs along the lower rim. The purity mark AG 999 appears to the left of the arms and the date 2010 to the right. The motto UBUMWE-UMURIMO-GUKUNDA IGIHUGU is inscribed on a scroll at the base of the shield.
