Opmerkingen

Klöckner-Werke's Hasper iron and steel works was among the industrial giants that issued notgeld during the hyperinflation peak of 1923, when the Reichsbank's output simply could not keep pace with denominations rising weekly. Employer-issued emergency currency was a practical necessity — workers needed something to buy bread with on payday, and the company needed its workforce to show up.

G. Kannengiesser was a local Haspe printer, not a specialist security firm, which shows in the modest production values typical of late-stage industrial notgeld. Klöckner itself had absorbed the Hasper works during its postwar consolidation of Westphalian heavy industry.
