| 正面描述 | The upper portion of the note carries a detailed letterpress panoramic vignette of the Altenburg cityscape, with the town's castle, church steeples, and rooftops rendered in fine black line work across the full width of the note. To the upper left, the municipal coat of arms of Altenburg is printed in black. The large denomination numeral '500 000.- MARK' dominates the centre in bold typeface, with the written amount in parentheses below, followed by issuance and expiry text, two manuscript signatures, a red circular official stamp of the city, and a serial number with the series letter 'Lit. B' at lower left. |

| 备注 |
Altenburg's 500,000 Mark notgeld belongs to the hyperinflation summer of 1923, when municipal authorities across Thuringia were forced to print emergency denominations simply to cover weekly wages — the Reichsbank's own supply consistently lagged behind the pace of price collapse. By the time notes at this face value were being issued, the purchasing power they represented was already eroding within days of printing.
Local production in Altenburg itself was common for the city's notgeld series, keeping turnaround tight. The 500,000 Mark denomination was already obsolete within weeks as the inflation accelerated toward the billion-mark issues of late summer.
