| Obverse description | Printed in dark brownish-red on cream paper, the obverse is framed by an elaborate foliate and arabesque letterpress border running along all four edges. The denomination is set in large Fraktur script across the upper field — 'Fünfhunderttausend' above the numeral '500000 Mark' — followed by a redemption clause in cursive Gothic hand naming the Stadthauptkasse Hannover as the paying authority, with validity conditions and the issue date of 10 August 1923. Two facsimile signatures appear at the foot, attributed to the Magistrat and the Bürgervorsteherkollegium respectively, above a letterpress serial number, with the printer's imprint 'Druck: Gebrüder Jänecke, Hannover' at the base. |
