正面描述 The note is printed in brown on a fine guilloche underprint ground. The large denomination numeral '500000' is set in bold Gothic script at centre-left, accompanied by the word 'Mark' in matching blackletter type. To the upper right, a circular portrait vignette encloses a photographic half-portrait of a man identified by the surrounding legend as 'Clostermann'. The serial number and series letter appear twice, at upper left and lower centre.

备注

Koblenz issued this 500,000 Mark note during the hyperinflation of 1923, when municipal and regional authorities across Germany were forced to print their own emergency currency — Notgeld — simply to keep local commerce moving. By mid-1923, the Reichsbank could not supply denominations fast enough to keep pace with prices doubling weekly, and cities like Koblenz had no choice but to act independently.

The watermarked paper distinguishes this from the cheapest Notgeld issues of the period, suggesting the city drew on existing paper stocks rather than resorting to the unprotected newsprint some issuers used in desperation.
