Obverse description Central to the field is a bold relief depiction of the Holy Crown of Hungary, rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner with the characteristic arched form, ornamentation, and the cross fleury finial at its apex; the Latin inscription 'REG' is visible on the crown's band. Surrounding the crown are ten Greek crosses distributed across the polished field, evoking the apostolic cross motif associated with the Hungarian kingdom. The curved legend 'MAGYARORSZÁG' arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination '500000 FORINT' is inscribed along the lower rim. The date '2021' appears to the lower left of the crown, and the Budapest Mint mark 'BP.' is positioned to the lower right.

Reverse description A frontal effigy of Saint Stephen I, King of Hungary (reigned 1000–1038), occupies the centre of the field, depicted in a stylized Romanesque manner inspired by medieval manuscript and sculptural sources. The king is shown crowned with a closed royal crown adorned with fleur-de-lis finials, dressed in a draped royal mantle with detailed engraving, and holding a long lance or sceptre in his left hand and an orb surmounted by a patriarchal cross in his right. To the upper left of the figure, the regnal dates '1000' and '1038' are inscribed in two lines. The curved legend 'SZENT ISTVÁN KIRÁLY' (Saint Stephen King) arcs along the lower rim in bold Latin letters. A small engraver's monogram is visible in the lower right area of the field.
