| Obverse description | Brown and blue notgeld voucher with an elaborate guilloche border framing the entire note. At left, a detailed letterpress vignette of Cologne Cathedral rises against a cloudlike underprint, below which the series designation "SERIE A" appears in red. The denomination "500.000.000" is printed in bold at upper left, while a large Gothic-script rendering of "Fünfhundert Millionen Mark" dominates the right half of the face, surmounted by the issuing authority inscription "Stadt Köln / Gutschein über" in matching blackletter type. At lower right, a red circular municipal seal and a manuscript signature of the Oberbürgermeister appear alongside the date "Köln, 20. September 1923" and a printed serial number. |
