| Obverse description | Central field features a multi-line Latin commemorative inscription occupying most of the coin's face, enclosed within a raised border. The legend around the periphery reads RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA and 50 ZŁ, with the date 2019 split either side of the Polish state eagle displayed in the lower exergue. The inscription recounts the key achievements of Stefan Batory as Prince of Transylvania, husband of Anna Jagiellon, and elected King of Poland, referencing his coronation in 1576, his military campaigns to recover Polotsk, Vitebsk and Livonia, his establishment of tribunals and the Vilnius Academy, and his death at Grodno. The text is rendered in a classical Roman serif typeface consistent with the medallic tradition of the series. The mint mark MW appears within the obverse field. |
