Reverse description A draped bust of Kazimierz I Odnowiciel (Casimir I the Restorer) facing slightly to sinister, depicted wearing a jeweled crown surmounted by a cross, with a fur-trimmed mantle adorned with decorative bosses at the shoulders and hem. The portrait is rendered in fine sculptural relief, conveying a medieval royal effigy of dignified character, the work of engraver Ewa Olszewska-Borys. The legend KAZIMIERZ I ODNOWICIEL 1039-1058 arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters. The word PRÓBA (trial/pattern) appears to the right of the bust in the field, denoting the coin's status as a proof strike.
