The eagle displays detailed feathering and bears no crown, consistent with the People's Republic of Poland heraldic type. Polish mint trials from the early 1970s occupy an awkward documentary space — officially unissued, yet produced in sufficient numbers to appear in specialist collections with some regularity. This particular CuNi strike without the "Próba" (trial) counterstamp represents one variant in a cluster of 1972 Chopin pattern submissions, the others struck in different alloys or bearing the standard proof-of-concept overstamp. The absence of "Próba" on a piece that is nonetheless catalogued under the Pr and ParM pattern references places it in the ambiguous category of unlabelled trial strikings, which the Polish Mint produced for internal evaluation before alloy and design decisions were finalized.
