Reverse description A half-length portrait of Duke Mieszko I, first historical ruler of Poland (reigned 960–992), is depicted facing slightly to the right in a commanding, regal pose. He wears a decorated ducal crown and richly detailed medieval armour with an ornate belt, conveying his status as a warrior-prince. In his right hand he holds an upright broad sword, its point resting at the lower left field, serving as a symbol of sovereign authority. The legend 'MIESZKO I' appears vertically along the left field, with his regnal dates '960-992' arranged vertically along the right periphery. The word 'PRÓBA' (trial/pattern) is inscribed in the left mid-field, confirming the coin's status as a pattern strike.
