Reverse description A draped, crowned bust of King Bolesław II Śmiały (Bolesław the Bold) facing front, wearing a jewelled royal crown and a chain-mail collar with decorative mantle clasp visible at the shoulders. The effigy is rendered in a stylised, medievalised artistic manner by engraver Ewa Olszewska-Borys, with long flowing hair and a full beard lending a commanding character to the portrait. The legend 'BOLESŁAW II' appears to the upper left and 'ŚMIAŁY' to the upper right of the bust, while the regnal dates '1058' and '1079' are inscribed in the lower field on either side of the truncation.
