| 正面描述 | The Polish state eagle — a crowned, spread-winged heraldic eagle — occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with detailed feathering. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1982 is divided on either side of the eagle's body, accompanied by the mint mark MW. The denomination ZŁ 50 ZŁ is inscribed in large characters across the lower field, flanking the eagle's tail. The design is characteristic of the People's Republic of Poland coinage series, engraved by Anna Jarnuszkiewicz. |

Trial strikes from early 1980s Poland carry a particular weight beyond metallurgy. The NBP's commemorative program continued almost without interruption through the Solidarity crisis and the imposition of martial law in December 1981 — this piece was produced in that immediate aftermath, when the state was simultaneously suppressing a labor movement and minting coins honoring medieval rulers.
Bolesław III Krzywousty fragmented Poland deliberately: his 1138 Testament divided the kingdom among his sons, initiating nearly two centuries of fragmentation that left the country vulnerable to Teutonic and Mongol incursions. The choice to commemorate him says something about how selective official historical memory can be.
