| Beschrijving keerzijde | High-relief truncated bust of Augustus II (August II Mocny, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland) facing left, depicted with long curled wig, lace cravat, and armored shoulder, in the Baroque portrait tradition. The curved legend 'AUGUSTUS . II . ELECTOR SAXONIAE' arcs along the upper periphery. The engraver's signature 'I.I. REICHEL. F.' is incised in small letters along the lower exergue line. The portrait is finely detailed, rendered in deeply struck high relief against a smooth field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
August II, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, famously converted from Lutheranism to Catholicism in 1697 solely to secure his election to the Polish throne — a calculated apostasy that scandalized Protestant Germany and satisfied almost no one in Poland. His epithet "the Strong" derived less from military achievement than from feats of physical strength that he apparently cultivated as deliberate political theater.
This issue belongs to NBP's long-running series of Polish kings and rulers, struck in one-troy-ounce .999 silver.
