| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts the ornate gatehouse of the Guanyin Pavilion atop Wanghai Mountain (望海山观音阁), rendered in fine detail with a traditional Chinese architectural style featuring a tiered, upswept roof and a central arched passageway. The structure is presented in full frontal elevation against a plain field, conveying a sense of monumental grandeur. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper periphery in Chinese characters. The inscription 鲁龙山观音门 appears in the lower portion of the field identifying the specific site, while the date 2002 is inscribed along the lower rim. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Kuan Yin gold series, issued annually by the People's Bank of China from 1985 through 2005, was among the first Chinese bullion programs explicitly designed for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. The 2002 issue appeared during a period when the series was quietly winding down — production runs had been shrinking through the early 2000s, and the program was discontinued three years later without formal announcement.
