50 Yuan Bank of Chinan, back proof

The Bank of Chinan (齊南銀行) was a Communist-controlled regional bank operating in Shandong province during the final years of the Second Sino-Japanese War and the early Civil War period. Its notes circulated in areas under the control of the East China Field Army, competing directly with Nationalist currency and Japanese puppet-regime scrip in a region where monetary authority changed hands repeatedly and violently.

This is a back proof — printed but never issued as a complete finished note, surviving outside normal circulation entirely. Back proofs from Communist regional banks of this period are substantially rarer than issued examples; most were destroyed or lost during the turbulent military withdrawals and administrative consolidations that preceded the founding of the People's Bank of China in 1948.
