The Bank of Bai Hai (北海銀行) was a Communist Party financial institution operating under the Shandong-Jiaozhou border region administration during the Second Sino-Japanese War. It functioned as a regional currency authority in territories held or contested by the Eighth Route Army, and its notes circulated in direct competition with both Japanese military scrip and Nationalist currency — a three-way monetary conflict that shaped daily commerce in occupied Shandong.
Wartime printing conditions in guerrilla-held zones were unpredictable, and the S3570A series shows variation in ink saturation that reflects inconsistent press runs rather than counterfeiting or alteration.
