Vanuatu's Olympic commemorative program in the mid-1990s rode a wave of licensed sports coinage that flooded collector markets worldwide, with dozens of small island nations issuing silver rounds bearing little relationship to their own Olympic participation. Vanuatu first competed at the Olympics in 1988 and has never fielded a gymnastics team.
