| 背面描述 | Conjoined busts of Princess Masako and Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan face each other in profile at the center of the field, rendered in finely detailed relief. The legend ROYAL WEDDING arcs along the upper border, while PRINCESS MASAKO and PRINCE NARUHITO appear along the left and right periphery respectively, separated by a dash at the base. The date 1993 is inscribed in the lower central field beneath the portraits, all set against a deeply mirrored proof background. |

Mongolia issued this coin as part of a wave of foreign-market commemoratives it began producing in the early 1990s following the collapse of Soviet-backed rule and the liberalization of its economy — the government needed hard currency, and selling silver coins to overseas collectors was a reliable way to get it. The subject, the 1993 wedding of Crown Prince Naruhito and Masako Owada, was a major international media event and a natural hook for the collector market.
Naruhito ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne in 2019 following Emperor Akihito's abdication — the first such abdication in over two centuries.
