Reverse description A large, detailed engraving of a Queen Alexandra's birdwing butterfly (Ornithoptera alexandrae), the world's largest butterfly and a species endemic to Papua New Guinea, is depicted perched upon a leafy plant stem occupying the lower and central portions of the field. The wings are rendered with fine naturalistic vein detail, with the upper wings spread prominently to the right. The denomination numeral 50t is inscribed in large characters in the upper left field.
