The Parasat is one of Kazakhstan's highest state honors, established by presidential decree in 1995 as part of a broader effort to build a distinctly Kazakhstani system of national awards following the Soviet collapse. This coin was issued the same year Kazakhstan marked its first eighteen years of independence, a period during which the country's decorative and ceremonial orders were still being institutionalized.
