Bangladesh's 50th independence anniversary fell in 2021, and the commemorative 50 Taka note marks the occasion with domestic production throughout — designed, printed, and issued entirely within the country. The Security Printing Corporation facility in Gazipur has handled Bangladeshi currency production since 1988, reducing the long-standing dependence on foreign printers that characterized earlier decades of the series.
Security features are modest: a watermark and embedded thread, without the more complex optically variable elements found on higher denominations of the same period.
