Obverse description The obverse is printed in shades of red and pink on a light underprint, with a central vignette of Ahsan Manzil (the Pink Palace) in Dhaka, rendered in fine line engraving with a broad staircase and colonnade in the foreground. The issuer name in Bengali script — বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক — appears in the upper portion, flanked by the numeral 50 at upper left and lower right. Bengali text inscriptions including the denomination পঞ্চাশ টাকা and the governor's signature with title appear to the right of the central vignette, with the serial number printed twice in red.

Comments

Bangladesh Bank has periodically refreshed the 50 Taka series as counterfeiting pressure on mid-denomination notes increased through the 2010s. P#78 represents the most recent revision in that sequence, though substantive changes between consecutive 50 Taka types are often modest — repositioned security threads and updated watermark configurations rather than wholesale redesigns.

Cotton substrate throughout the modern Bangladesh series has been sourced internationally; the Bangladeshi central bank does not operate its own security paper mill.
