| Beschrijving keerzijde | Convex reverse of the hourglass-shaped sycee ingot displaying two large cast Chinese characters in traditional regular script (kaishu), reading 元寶 (Yuan Bao), arranged vertically in the upper and lower register of the field. The characters are rendered in bold, deeply cast strokes that rise prominently from the porous, textured silver surface, which shows extensive casting porosity and natural oxidation patina characteristic of genuine Yuan dynasty silver ingots. The waisted, double-lobed profile of the ingot is clearly visible at the sides, conforming to the standard boat or saddle form associated with official Yuan fiscal silver. |
