Descripción del anverso Grey and dark blue intaglio note with a central vignette of the Monument to the Heroes of October 9 (Monumento a los Próceres del 9 de Octubre) set within an elaborate guilloche frame, flanked on both sides by large numeral 50 underprints in ornate rosette patterns. The bank title BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR appears across the top, with the inscription SOCIEDAD ANÓNIMA below; the series designation SERIE TQ and the place and date of issue Quito, Agosto 10 de 1976 appear in the lower corners. Two signature lines at the bottom identify the GERENTE GENERAL and VOCAL with the SUPERINTENDENTE DE BANCOS legend centered beneath them, and the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY runs along the lower margin.

Descripción del reverso Printed entirely in green, the reverse centres on the Ecuadorian national coat of arms — an oval shield surmounted by a condor with outstretched wings, flanked by laurel and palm branches — enclosed within a finely engraved frame of interlocking guilloche scrollwork. Large numeral 50 panels occupy both lateral fields, each surrounded by ornate rosette and lathe-work underprint patterns consistent with American Bank Note Company engraving style. The bank title BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR arches across the top, the denomination legend CINCUENTA SUCRES runs along the lower border, and the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY appears at the base.

The P#111 series was issued during a period when Ecuador's oil revenues were reshaping the national economy at speed — the 1970s boom financed expanded government borrowing, and the Central Bank kept multiple denominations in active circulation simultaneously to manage liquidity. The 50 Sucres sat near the top of everyday transactional use before inflation steadily eroded its purchasing power through the late 1970s and 1980s.

ABNC's intaglio work on Ecuadorian notes from this era is consistently fine, though the watermark security on P#111 is rudimentary by contemporary standards — a single repeated motif with no additional thread or chemical feature.
