正面描述 The state coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria is centrally depicted within a circular border, featuring a crowned lion rampant on a shield, flanked by two wheat sheaves tied with a ribbon bearing the founding dates 681 and 1944. A cogwheel appears at the base of the arms, symbolising industry. The circular legend НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ arcs around the device, with the dates 681 and 1944 incorporated on the ribbon below the shield. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition.

附加信息

Issued under Todor Zhivkov's People's Republic, this coin series spanned nearly the entire final chapter of Bulgarian communism. The second coat of arms designation distinguishes it from the visually similar earlier type — the heraldic revision came after the 1971 constitution formalized the state's relationship with the Soviet Union, which included the famous, if quietly embarrassing, proposal by Zhivkov himself to absorb Bulgaria as the sixteenth Soviet republic — a suggestion Moscow declined.
