Obverse description Central device composed of a wheat ear, a sickle, and a linden branch tied together, rendered in a bold, stylized Art Nouveau manner characteristic of Otakar Španiel's early work. The agricultural motifs symbolize the agrarian heritage of the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic. The legend REPUBLIKA CESKOSLOVENSKA curves along the upper periphery in incuse Latin lettering. The date 1920 appears in the lower field beneath the central composition. The field is plain and unadorned, allowing the naturalistic relief elements to dominate.
