备注

The Banco del Valle de Chicama was one of several Peruvian provincial banks chartered under the 1872 banking law that briefly liberalized note-issuing rights beyond Lima. Chicama, a sugar-producing valley north of Trujillo, had the agricultural wealth to support a regional bank — the local sugar barons essentially backed its capital. The bank's life was short; the War of the Pacific and Peru's subsequent financial collapse in the early 1880s wiped out most provincial note-issuing institutions entirely.

ABNC production for a regional Peruvian bank of this vintage is not unusual, but surviving high-denomination issues from institutions this short-lived are genuinely rare. Most were redeemed, destroyed, or lost during the war years.
