Additional information

Somalia's late-period gold issues of the 2000s were produced almost entirely for the collector export market, with no meaningful domestic circulation — the country had no functioning central bank capable of managing a gold coinage program during this period. The nominal issuing authority was largely a legal fiction exploited by European minting houses and distributors licensing the Somalia name for commemorative series.

Maria Theresia herself died in 1780, but her famous Thaler continued striking with the frozen date of 1780 well into the modern era — this miniature gold piece trades on that recognition while bearing no actual connection to that monetary tradition.
