Somalia's elephant bullion series occupies an unusual position in the modern gold coin market — issued under Somali authority but produced and distributed entirely through the German private mint Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt (the Bavarian State Mint) in Munich, with no meaningful connection to Somali monetary infrastructure.
