Somalia's elephant bullion series occupies an unusual niche: a nation with no meaningful domestic silver market issuing a collector bullion coin annually since 2016, with design changes each year driving secondary-market premiums well above melt. The program is administered entirely through European distributors, principally in Germany, with virtually no circulation or legal tender use inside Somalia itself.
The 2019 issue saw a mintage cap of 15,000 pieces.
