Obverse description Unadorned bust of Queen Salote Tupou III facing right, her hair styled in a traditional bun and wearing a pearl necklace. The legend SALOTE TUPOU III curves along the upper periphery within a beaded border, while the date 1967 appears in the lower field beneath the effigy. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic style with strong relief, characteristic of mid-twentieth century Commonwealth coinage.
