Reverse description The central field displays the vertically arranged denomination in three kanji characters (五十銭, '50 Sen'), flanked symmetrically on either side by sprays of paulownia (Kiri) foliage with heart-shaped leaves and blossoms. A chrysanthemum flower, serving as the imperial seal of the Emperor of Japan, is positioned at the top center above the denomination. The design is enclosed within a beaded circle and toothed outer rim, consistent with the Meiji-era coinage style.
