备注

The 1948 50 Sen belongs to the brief twilight of the sen denomination in Japanese currency. By the time this note was issued, postwar inflation had already made fractional yen essentially symbolic — the sen was abolished entirely in 1953 under the Currency Unit Act, rendering the entire series obsolete within five years of printing. The Government Printing Bureau produced it domestically, which was itself a recovery milestone: wartime and immediate postwar production had severely strained Japanese printing capacity.

Circulation life was short, hoarding was uncommon given the low face value, and surviving examples in decent condition are more a matter of luck than deliberate preservation.
