Obverse description The copper-nickel centre features the large numeral '50' at its centre, surrounded by a decagonal arrangement of the nine heraldic shields of the Austrian federal states — including those of Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Carinthia, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, and Burgenland — rendered in fine relief. The engraver's signature 'H. WÄHNER' appears discretely in the lower right field of the centre. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the circumferential legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' above and '· SCHILLING ·' below, struck in bold raised lettering.
