| Obverse description | The central field displays the large denomination numeral '50' above the word 'SCHILLING' in bold relief, surrounded by a ring of nine heraldic shields representing the coats of arms of the nine Austrian federal states arranged in a circular pattern. At the top of the ring, the Austrian federal eagle shield is prominently positioned. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' runs along the periphery, punctuated by raised dots as separators. The overall design, engraved by Edwin Grienauer, reflects a strong heraldic tradition characteristic of mid-twentieth-century Austrian commemorative coinage. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, engraved by Fritz Tiefenthaler, features a detailed frontal view of the main building of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Hochschule für Bodenkultur) in Vienna, rendered in fine architectural relief with its characteristic historicist façade, central tower, and flanking wings. The engraver's name 'TIEFENTHALER' appears in small letters beneath the building facade. Flanking the lower portion of the building are two heraldic shields. The curved legend 'HOCHSCHULE FÜR BODENKULTUR' arcs across the upper field, while 'IN WIEN' and the founding and centenary dates '1872 – 1972' are inscribed in the lower field, commemorating the institution's hundredth anniversary. |
