The 1929 issue arrived just as the global financial collapse began dismantling export revenue from rice and rubber, the twin pillars of the Siamese economy. Three years later, the absolute monarchy itself fell in a bloodless coup, ending 150 years of Chakri royal prerogative over coinage and fiscal policy.
Y#49 is the sole silver satang denomination struck under Rama VII, making it an isolated type within an otherwise transitional coinage series.
