The lion stands on a ground line in the central field, rendered in fine relief with a flowing mane. Below the lion, the denomination legend in Ge'ez (Ethiopic) script reads አምሳ፡ሳንቲም (Fifty Santeem), inscribed along the lower arc of the field.
