| Obverse description | Printed in violet-purple letterpress on white paper, the obverse carries the heading REPUBLIK INDONESIA at top, below which the emergency currency inscriptions KERTAS DARURAT UNTUK DAERAH BANTEN and TANDA PEMBAJARAN JANG SAH span the upper field. The large numeral 50 dominates the centre, flanked by guilloche vignettes — a mosque or tower silhouette at left and an architectural structure at right — while the lower portion bears two manuscript signature blocks above the printed titles KEPALA PEDJABATAN KEUANGAN / DEWAN PERTAHANAN DAERAH at left and KETUA DEWAN PERTAHANAN DAERAH at right, with the issue place and date SERANG, 11-8-1948 and series identifier NI. |

A central rectangular panel, enclosed by an elaborate serpentine border, carries the anti-counterfeiting legal warning text in Indonesian referencing articles 244, 245, and 249 of the Criminal Code. |
