One of the more unusual survival stories in Indonesian emergency currency: the Pemerintah Daerah Palembang issued these notes during the Dutch military actions — what the Netherlands called "police actions" — when regional governments across Sumatra printed their own paper to keep local economies functioning as central authority collapsed and re-formed repeatedly. Palembang, sitting atop South Sumatra's oil infrastructure, was a particular focus of Dutch military interest in 1947–49, which makes the administrative continuity implied by a locally printed regional note all the more striking.
Locally produced emergency issues of this period are notoriously fragile. The paper quality was whatever was available.
