Obverse description The Indian State Emblem — the Lion Capital of Ashoka — is depicted at centre, showing three lions passant on an abacus adorned with a Dharma Chakra flanked by a horse and a bull in relief. The national motto in Devanagari script, 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'), appears in the field below the emblem. The denomination '50' in large numerals is shown in the lower field, with 'RUPEES' inscribed along the right rim in Latin script and 'INDIA' along the upper right periphery. The country name in Devanagari script, 'भारत', curves along the left rim, completing the bilingual peripheral legend.
