Aanvullende informatie

Nepal's national news agency, Rastriya Samachar Samiti, was established in 1962 under direct government patronage during the Panchayat system — a period of partyless absolute rule under King Mahendra that tightly controlled information flow. Commemorating it on currency four decades later, under a republic still raw from a decade-long Maoist insurgency and the 2008 abolition of the monarchy, gave the issue an unintentional political charge the Nepal Rastra Bank likely did not advertise.
