Obverse description The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar, the national emblem of India, rendered in high relief at the centre of the field. Below the emblem appears the Devanagari inscription 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyamev Jayate, meaning 'Truth alone triumphs'). The denomination '50 RUPEES' and its Hindi equivalent 'रुपये 50' are inscribed in the lower field, while the legend 'INDIA' appears along the upper periphery and 'भारत' in Devanagari script completes the bilingual peripheral legend.
