附加信息

This piece was issued as part of Nepal's engagement with the International Year of the Child, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly for 1979, which prompted a wave of commemorative programs across developing nations. Nepal's government under King Birendra tied the occasion specifically to rural women's literacy — a pointed policy choice given that female enrollment in village schools remained below 10% in many hill districts at the time.

KM#842 is struck in .500 fineness, a deliberately economical alloy that kept production costs manageable for a country with limited hard currency reserves in the late 1970s.
