These notes predate Seychellois independence by several years — the islands remained a British Crown Colony until 1976, and the Government of Seychelles issuing authority at this period operated under colonial administration. Norman-Walker served as Governor from 1964 to 1969; Greatbatch succeeded him and signed the later dates through independence's approach. The shift in signatories across a single Pick number is worth noting for date collectors, as all five signature-date combinations are catalogued separately.
Bradbury Wilkinson's New Malden facility handled a substantial portion of British colonial currency through this period. The 50 Rupee denomination was the highest in this series, meaning circulation figures were low relative to smaller values.
