Obverse description Printed in blue, light blue, and orange tones, the obverse carries a vignette of King Parakramabahu to the right, rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint. The denomination numeral '50' appears in the upper corners, with the bank title in Sinhala script across the top and the value inscription 'FIFTY RUPEES' along the lower margin in English and Tamil. Two serial numbers are printed in red, one at lower left and one at upper right.

Reverse description The reverse is rendered in blue and grey tones, with a large vignette of the ornamental moonstone and ceremonial steps of the Vatadage at Polonnaruwa occupying the left and centre of the composition. A circular watermark space is reserved at the right, surrounded by fine guilloche patterning. The bank title in Sinhala appears at the top, with the denomination in Tamil above and 'FIFTY RUPEES' in English at the lower right, alongside the Sinhala value inscription at the bottom.
