| Obverse description | Plain paper cheque-format emergency note issued by the Zhytomyr branch of the State Bank (Государственного Банка), with printed text in pre-reform Cyrillic script ordering payment to the bearer of fifty roubles from the issuer's current account. A circular branch stamp appears at lower left, with a serial number printed vertically along the left margin; the date 6 марта 1918 г. is entered in manuscript, and manuscript signatures appear at lower centre and lower left. A border text running along the top and side margins states the note is valid for ten days from the date of issue. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely plain, printed on unadorned paper with no vignette, underprint, or decorative elements. Two handwritten manuscript signatures appear in the centre of the field, consistent with counter-endorsement or authentication practice. The surface shows significant fold wear. |

The Zhytomyr Branch of the State Bank issued these notes during the extraordinarily volatile period when Zhytomyr changed hands repeatedly among Ukrainian People's Republic forces, the Bolsheviks, and various other armed factions. Locally printed emergency currency of this kind filled a vacuum left by the collapse of central banking authority — the State Bank network in Ukraine fragmented into essentially autonomous regional issuers, each printing what was needed to keep local commerce functional.
Provincial printings from this period are notoriously uneven in quality and frequently show weak impression or irregular trimming. Surviving examples in any coherent condition are genuinely uncommon.
