Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed architectural view of the Church of Saint John the Precursor (Tserkov Ioanna Predtechi) in Yaroslavl, depicting the celebrated seventeenth-century five-domed main church with its numerous ornate onion domes surmounted by Orthodox crosses, flanked to the right by the tall detached bell tower. Subsidiary ancillary buildings and surrounding grounds are rendered in fine engraved detail in the middle and lower field. The Cyrillic legend ЦЕРКОВЬ ИОАННА ПРЕДТЕЧИ arcs across the upper field in a distinctive stylised script, while the city name ЯРОСЛАВЛЬ appears in a decorative cartouche at the base of the design. The mirror-polished proof fields provide strong contrast against the frosted architectural relief.
