Reverse description The reverse depicts a scene from Tchaikovsky's opera Evgeny Onegin as performed at the Bolshoi Theatre, showing the full-length figure of Onegin standing in the centre foreground, dressed in a long coat and holding a pistol, set in a wintry landscape with snow-covered fir trees to the left and a horse-drawn carriage with an attendant figure to the right. At the top of the field, a vignette of the Bolshoi Theatre façade surmounts a medallion inscribed 225, commemorating the 225th anniversary of the institution, flanked by two scrolled banners bearing the legend БОЛЬШОЙ ТЕАТР. The inscription ЕВГЕНИЙ ОНЕГИН is engraved in the lower exergue. The entire composition is executed in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field.
