Kerapatan Nagari Lima Poeloch was a village council authority in the Minangkabau region of West Sumatra — not a bank, not a government treasury. Its decision to issue emergency currency in 1947 reflects the chaotic monetary fragmentation of the Indonesian National Revolution, when Dutch military pressure (the "Politionele Acties" were imminent) forced local bodies across the archipelago to paper over severe coin and note shortages with whatever printing capacity they had.
The S-prefix in the Pick reference places this firmly in the Indonesian emergency/guerrilla issue category. Few Nagari-level issues from this period survived in quantity; most circulated hard and were retired or simply discarded once Republican currency stabilized in the region.
